Hello All,
Happy July! The gods of all three alignments are updated now. For now it's just the name of the God and the element they represent on Thran, there will be more detail added as time goes on. Book I: The Birth is inching inching closer to be ready for public release. A few last reads from family and close friends still catch minor imperfections, which I am appreciative for! Also, the manuscript is in the hands of the copyright office, as that needs to be finalized prior to any official release. I assume that process takes anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks, but we will see. I've had a request for a couple more of the pictures, of the evil side of things, so I will work with Natalie Marten on that, and let her weave her artistic magic. Currently she is working on the artwork for the different symbols of the gods, which I look forward to adding to the website. If you have friends or family, let them know about the book and/or refer them to the website (www.worldofthran.com), I need the hits, plus would love to see more users! That's it for now! Brian Hello All,
I added the Neutral Gods today, who's followers walk the fine line between good and evil, and lawful and chaotic. Always seeking to maintain a balance in the complicated world of ever shifting loyalties and circumstance. Neutral characters play a pivotal role in Thran, and, rightfully do, in the first book as well. With the final revision done, the book will be available shortly, and I hope readers find these neutral characters as dynamic and interesting as I do. There is much more to detail around the gods, but I am trying to get the basics out there in the Wiki, before diving too deep into any particular area. Tell your friends and family to visit my web site, I need the traffic and would love to get feedback on the cover art! Thanks Everyone! Brian Hello All,
It was a busy weekend for editing, but the good news is I finished the final edit of Book One! It feels amazing to have a final product, so now the next task will be to figure out how to go through the publishing process. Writing a book has been a learning process along the way, and publishing will be just another education! Thanks, Brian Hello All!
I have added the beginnings of the Thran Wiki. It's not much yet, but I will continue to add new pieces each day or two until it has all the relevant info for book I. Thanks for all the feedback on the cover art, but I would love to get more, so take a look and tell me what you think! Thanks, Brian McLaughlin worldofthran.com Natalie Marten did it again - nailing the cover art on the first try! We're still working on the fonts, but visually it's already right on. No sneak peak yet, but I will say this much: Kord will be luring the readers with his grim visage. Once we get it more finalized, I'll post it on the site and let our visitors rate it and add comments. Obviously the book hasn't been released to the public yet, but people know a good cover when they see it - and if it makes you want to read the book, then that's great information!
Thanks for visiting! Brian Happy Father's day to all the fathers out there!
It's odd, being the first entry into the blog, but I will use this space to give updates on the progress of the first and second books. There are a lot of moving pieces, as I am in the process of the final edit of book one, started the rough draft of book two, trying to learn how to build a website, and designing the cover for book one. I suppose the first question is: what's with the grassy scene at the top of the blog? Much of the adventure takes place outdoors, in the grassy plains of Kardoon. I won't say too much more (no spoilers!) but that visual strikes home as a scene the companions might have seen as they ventured out into the wilds of Kardoon. For book one, I hope to get the cover art going this week, but first have to decide on the style, both art and message, that I want. I started this website last week, and continue to learn about how to make it better. I am making good progress on the final edit, and hope to have that done in the next two weeks. As for book two, I haven't spent a lot of time on it yet since most of my efforts have been trying to finalize book one, but I feel it's important to make some progress to keep the story flowing well. That's all for now! |
